Oporto Nutrition & Allergens

Oporto publishes two kinds of nutrition data: energy in kJ and Calories, and an allergen chart. This page explains what each covers, how to read the allergen markings, and how to build a lighter order from the menu. Allergen detail is available for 52 of the 101 items we list, and we show it on each item page exactly as Oporto's chart gives it.

P = present, T = may contain traces. Copied from Oporto's published allergen chart (PDF 1). Items not on the chart are not listed. Shared fryers: Crispy Wings, Chicken Crispy Strips, Spicy Bolas, chips, Hash Browns, Veggie Patties and Churros. Always confirm with staff.

What Oporto publishes and what it leaves out

Oporto's public menu gives an energy figure for almost every item, in kilojoules with a Calorie equivalent. Those figures appear on every item page here and are collected on the Oporto calories page. The brand also publishes an allergen chart as a PDF, which marks the major allergens for each item it covers.

What Oporto does not publish in the same sources is a macro breakdown. There are no protein, fat, carbohydrate, sugar or sodium figures on the public menu we draw from, so we do not show them. Any site quoting grams of protein for an Oporto burger is getting that number from somewhere other than Oporto's menu data.

How the allergen chart works

The chart uses two markings. P means the allergen is present, so the item contains it. T is a trace warning, meaning the item can contain traces of that allergen through shared equipment or ingredients. On our item pages, the allergens shown are the ones the chart marks as present.

Oporto's chart flags a shared fryer. Crispy Wings, Chicken Crispy Strips, Spicy Bolas, Potato Chips, Hash Browns, Veggie Patties and Churros can share a fryer vat, so an item with no listed allergens, such as chips, can still pick up traces from crumbed chicken cooked in the same oil. Several of those chicken items list fish and crustacean.

Coverage is partial. Of the 101 items we list, 52 appear on the chart. Bundles, boxes and some newer items are not listed as complete items, so check each component on its own and ask staff in store before ordering if you have a serious allergy.

How to build a lighter Oporto order

Start with grilled rather than fried. A Quarter Chicken at 1,238 kJ or the 4 pack of Chicken Tenders at 1,005 kJ gives you plenty of chicken for a modest figure. Pair it with the Portuguese Salad at from 130 kJ or Grilled Corn at from 431 kJ in place of chips.

Sauce and drinks are the hidden extras. Lemon & Herb is the lightest dipping sauce at 310 kJ, while Garlic sits at 812 kJ. A 600ml soft drink adds from 1,109 kJ, so water or a Peach Ice Tea keeps the total down. Browse the full Oporto menu with these swaps in mind.

Does Oporto publish nutrition information?

Yes. Oporto lists kJ and Calories for almost every menu item and publishes an allergen chart. It does not publish a macro breakdown such as protein, fat or carbs in the sources we use.

What do P and T mean on the Oporto allergen chart?

P means the allergen is present in the item. T means the item can contain traces of it. We show present allergens as contains on each item page.

How many Oporto items have allergen information?

52 of the 101 items we list appear on Oporto's allergen chart. For the rest, check the components or ask staff in store.

Do Oporto chips share a fryer with chicken?

Oporto's chart says Potato Chips can share a fryer vat with Crispy Wings, Crispy Strips, Spicy Bolas, Hash Browns, Veggie Patties and Churros. Some of those chicken items contain fish and crustacean, so cross contact is possible.

Which Oporto items have no listed allergens?

The plain Quarter, Half and Whole Chicken, Chips, Grilled Corn and the Hash Brown show no allergens present on the chart. Fried items still carry the shared fryer note.

What is the healthiest thing to order at Oporto?

A grilled option with a light side is the lowest energy full meal: a Quarter Chicken at 1,238 kJ with the Portuguese Salad and water. The Chicken Salad Bowl at 2,201 kJ is a good bread free choice too.
