Privacy Policy

Effective October 2026. This policy explains what information OportoMenu.au collects, why, and what control you have over it. Independent site. Not affiliated with Oporto or Craveable Brands.

No accounts

We never ask you to sign up, so we hold no profiles, passwords or order history.

Saved on your device

Favourites, meal plans and tool settings live in your browser's localStorage, not on our servers.

Ads use cookies

Google AdSense sets cookies for ads. Turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.

Who we are

OportoMenu.au is an independent guide to the Oporto menu in Australia, run by a small editorial team. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean the operators of OportoMenu.au. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy covers the website at oportomenu.au and every page and tool on it. It does not cover Oporto's own website, the Oporto app or any site we link to, which run under their own privacy policies.

Information we collect

We collect very little. There are no accounts, no logins and no checkout on this site, so we never ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details to use it.

When you visit, our hosting and analytics provider records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you open, the referring page and the time of the visit. Ad partners collect similar data through cookies, as described below.

If you email us at [email protected] or use a contact form, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use that only to reply and to fix whatever you reported.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

We show ads through Google AdSense to cover the cost of running the site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and detect fraud.

With your consent where the law requires it, Google uses cookies to personalise ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your browsing history across the web.

You can turn off personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Ads still appear after you opt out, but they are no longer based on your interests. Google's own privacy policy explains how it handles the data it collects.

Cloudflare hosting and analytics

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request data, including IP addresses, to deliver pages quickly, block malicious traffic and keep the site online.

We use Cloudflare's analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. These reports are aggregated: they tell us how many people opened the Bondi Burger page, for example, not who those people were. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy, and some of it is processed on servers outside Australia.

Information stored in your browser

Several of our tools save things for you. Favourites, saved meal plans, kJ goals, bill splits and tool settings are stored in your browser's localStorage on your own device.

This data never leaves your device and we cannot see it. It stays until you clear it, either with the reset buttons inside the tools or by clearing site data in your browser settings. A different browser or device starts with a clean slate.

How we use and share information

We use the information above to run and secure the site, understand which pages and menu tools people find useful, show ads, and answer emails. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to build marketing lists.

We share data only with the service providers named in this policy, namely Google for advertising and Cloudflare for hosting and analytics, or where Australian law requires us to disclose it. These providers act under their own privacy terms and some operate outside Australia, including in the United States.

How long we keep data

Emails are kept for as long as we need them to handle your request and keep a record of corrections, then deleted. Aggregated analytics are kept to compare traffic over time. Data held by Google and Cloudflare follows their own retention schedules.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice the only personal information we hold directly is the content of emails you send us. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handled a privacy request, tell us first so we can put it right. If the issue is not resolved, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

This site is a general audience menu guide and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent who believes their child has emailed us personal details can contact us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our services or the law change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it last changed, and the current version always applies. Questions about anything here go to [email protected], and our FAQs cover how the rest of the site works.
